One of my earliest childhood memories was going to a Heat game and watching him play against the Spurs (my dad sang national anthem that game;)). A couple years later I remember watching him play against the Pistons in the conference finals and then going on to beat the Mavericks in the finals. The accomplishments Dwyane Wade and Pat Riley were able to do for the Heat were as game changing as what Phil Jackson and Michael Jordan did for the Bulls. From winning with Shaq, to getting the Big Three together in their primes to form one of the greatest trios in NBA history. Additionally, their impact on our city can't go unrecognized. The Miami Heat are the team that gave our city a new-love for sports after the Dolphins and Marlins lost relevance to us. Other than Don Shula, Wade was (and is) the most impactful sports icon in Miami, both on and off the court. Thank you for everything you've done for our city. And no matter where you go, Miami will always be Wade-County.
