Los Lobos
Los Lobos is an American rock band from East Los Angeles whose music fuses rock and roll with deep Mexican and American roots traditions. They reached international stardom in 1987 and have become one of the most respected Latin-rooted rock groups around.
Origens
Formed in 1973 in East Los Angeles, the band drew on the Mexican-American culture of their neighborhood from the start. Their breakthrough came in 1987 with a cover that carried them onto charts worldwide.
O som
Their sound is a wide-ranging blend of rock and roll, Tex-Mex, country, zydeco, folk, R&B, blues, brown-eyed soul, and traditional forms like cumbia, boleros and norteños — a genuinely cross-cultural take on Latin rock.
Legado
Their songs have been recorded by artists including Elvis Costello, Waylon Jennings and Robert Plant. They were nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015, inducted into the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame in 2018, and as of 2024 have earned twelve Grammy nominations with four wins.
Música símbolo
La Bamba
"La Bamba" is their signature song — their 1987 version topped the Billboard Hot 100 and charts in the UK and beyond, turning a traditional Mexican folk tune into a global hit.
