Fruko y sus Tesos is one of Colombia's most important salsa groups, popular across Latin America and the United States. They helped define the Colombian salsa sound.
Formed in 1969 by multi-instrumentalist Julio Ernesto Estrada (“Fruko”), the band debuted with Tesura that year and gained major success after recruiting singer Joe Arroyo in 1973.
Their music is hard-driving Colombian salsa, powered by tight brass, percussion, and charismatic lead vocals.
With dozens of albums to their name and a roster that launched stars like Joe Arroyo, Fruko y sus Tesos became a cornerstone of Colombian salsa.
El Preso
“El Preso” is their signature song, an enduring salsa classic still beloved on dancefloors.
