Los Kjarkas are a Bolivian band from Capinota, Cochabamba, and one of the most popular Andean folk groups in the country's history. Their music carries Bolivian tradition to the world.
Founded in 1971 in Capinota, the band built its reputation performing Andean folk styles and became a cornerstone of Bolivian popular music.
Their music spans Andean genres like saya, caporal, tuntuna, huayno, and carnavales, played on traditional instruments including the charango, quena, zampoña, ronroco, and bombo.
As one of the most beloved Andean folk bands in Bolivian history, Los Kjarkas have been central to popularizing Andean music internationally.
