Los Mirlos are a Peruvian cumbia band from the Amazonian town of Moyobamba, known as pioneers of the tropical, psychedelic style sometimes called cumbia amazónica.
Founded in 1973 with roots in Moyobamba, the band helped bring the sounds of the Peruvian Amazon to a national and later international audience.
Their music is Peruvian cumbia with a tropical, electric-guitar-driven sound that gives it a hypnotic, psychedelic feel.
As one of the enduring names in Peruvian cumbia, Los Mirlos helped define the Amazonian branch of the genre and have found renewed audiences over the decades.
