Óscar D'León is a Venezuelan singer and bassist best known for salsa, affectionately called The Pharaoh of Salsa, The Lion of Salsa and the World's Sonero.
Active since the early 1970s, he rose with his group Dimensión Latina, recording the song that would become his calling card in 1974.
His music is rooted in salsa, driven by his commanding voice as a sonero and his identity as a singing bassist — a combination that earned him his larger-than-life nicknames.
A celebrated figure across the salsa world, he is also recognized for his humanitarian work as an ambassador for Operation Smile.
Lloraras
"Llorarás," which he authored and recorded in 1974 with Dimensión Latina, is his signature song and a salsa standard closely tied to his name.
