tango

Tango is a style of music in 2/4 or 4/4 that arose among European immigrants in Argentina and Uruguay in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with Spanish, Italian, gaucho, African and French roots. It's played by anything from a solo guitar to the orquesta típica built around the bandoneón, and may be instrumental or sung.

In this directory it spans the voice of Carlos Gardel and the orchestras of Aníbal Troilo and Osvaldo Pugliese, through to the revolutionary Astor Piazzolla.
