cumbia

Cumbia is a family of rhythms and folk-dance traditions that began on Colombia's Caribbean coast, fusing Indigenous, African and European elements — traditionally carried by drums, gaita and millo flutes, and the scraping guacharaca.

From Colombia it spread across the continent, taking deep root in Mexico and the Andes and branching into countless regional styles.

In this directory it gathers Colombia's Celso Piña, Peru's Los Mirlos, and Mexico's Los Ángeles Azules, La Sonora Dinamita, La Sonora Santanera and Gilda.
